Item Effect of ethrel (2 chloro-ethyl phosphonic acid) on growth and yield of bhendi (Abelmoschus Esculentus L Moench)(Kerala Agricultural University, 1979) Sreekumar, S G; Ramachandran Nair, N; Jayachandran, B K; Mary K GeorgeItem Effect of irradiation on seedling characters in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1975) Swamy Rao, T; Giriraj, KItem Effect of some green leaves and organic wastes on root-knot nematode infestation on bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1976) Prem Kumar, T; Nair, M R G KIn a field experiment it was found that the green leaves of eupatorium, lemongrass, mango, cashew and calotropis each at 5000 kg/ha and the organic wastes paddy straw, farm yard manure, press mud, coconut husk powder, paddy husk, coconut oil cake, cashew shell powder and saw dust at 2500 kg/ha, when applied in soil 21 days prior to sowing gave effective control of root knot nematode infesting bhindi.Item Gene action in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1976) Kulkarni, R S; Swamy Rao, T; Virupaksappa, KEstimates of components revealed that both additive and non-additive type of gene actions were operating for all three characters. Number of fruits per plant showed predominantly additive gene action while days to flower and plant height showed non-additive gene action. Dominance was found to be acting in the direction of earliness, tallness and greater number of fruits per plant. Asymmetrical distribution of positive and negative alleles wiu observed for all the characters in all the generations. Days to flowering and number of fruits per plant were controlled by one to three groups of dominant genes while it was four to fiive for plant height. Overdominance was observed for all the three characters.Item Inheritance of number of pods in bhindi Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench(Kerala Agricultural University, 1977) Kulkarni, R S; ThimmappaiahItem Line X tester analysis of heterosis and combine ability in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1977) Swamy Rao, TLine X tester analysis of heterosis and combining ability in bhindi have indicated that parents with good g. c. a, effect need not produce superior crosses with good s. c. a. effects. But the parental per se performance is a good indication of g. c. a. effect of parents.Item Heterosis and inbreeding for some yield components in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1978) Swamy Rao, TItem Interrelationship of yield components in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1978) Swamy Rao, T; Kulkarni, R SItem Genotype X environment interactions in bhindi(Kerala Agricultural University, 1979) Swamy Rao, TIt is suggested from the study to increase the number of locations for testing of breeding material than increasing years of testing. This helps in early evaluation of a crop variety.
