Item Credibility of various sources of information on human nutrition(Kerala Agricultural University, 1978) Menon, A G; Prema, lThe present study was conducted in the NES Blocks in Trivandrum Pistrict, Kerala to determine the communication source utilisantion, source credibility and the effect of socio-economic and personal characterestics on the source credibility perception of illage women in respect of information on food and nutrition. Data were collected by personal interview from a sample of 100 village women randomly selected The study revealed that the sources most often utilised by viliiags women are radio, mabiiasamajam:. block personnel, ANP camp, magazines, news papers, friends, neighbours, relatives, teaching institutions and films with their ranking in that order. Block personnel, ANP training camps, mahilasamjams and radio are perceived as the most credible sources. In general the socio-sconomic and persona! characteristics have significant relationship with all the sources, except in very few cases. It is also indicated that even though some of the common sources like relatives, friends, etc., are credible sources, their utilisation is very poor.Item Investigation into differential attitudes of village women of Kerala towards the applied nutrition programme(Kerala Agricultural University, 1976) Menon, A G G; Prema, lAn investigation in to the differential attitude of village women in Kerala towards the ANP was conducted in the N. E. S. blocks of Trivandrum District, where ANP was implemented 350 participants of the ANP camps formed the respondents of the study. The attitude was measured by using a scale specifically developed by the authors for this purpose. The analysis of the data revealed that the attitude of respondents is generally favourable towards ANP. Education, age, previous knowledge about the programme, previous participation in ANP camps etc. have positive influence on creating a favourable attitude towards the programme. It is also found that favourable attitude is a prerequisite for the effective participation in the ANP.Item Scale to measure the attitude of rural women towards kitchen garden(Kerala Agricultural University, 1975) Menon, A G G; Prema, lThe establishment of kitchen gardens is an important component of the activities of the Applied Nutririon Programme. Popularisation of kitchen garden depends to a large extent on the attitude of rural women towards it. Therefore, an attempt was made to construct a scale to measure the attitude of rural women, participating in the Applied Nutrition Programmes in Trivandrum District, towards kitchen gardens. A draft scale was prepared and modified on the basis of the suggestions made by the experts, field workers, house wives etc. Final selection of the statements was made by administering the draft scale on a random sample of 100 women and critical ratio was found out and the reliability and the content validity of the scale were also determined.
