The present investigation entitled ‘Taxonomy and soil carbon sequestration potential of altered and natural wetland ecosystems (AEU 6 and AEU 7) of north Kerala’ was formulated with the aim of classifying the soils of selected altered and natural wetlands in Kerala as per the USDA soil taxonomy and to find out the soil carbon sequestration potential of such soils. The study also compared carbon pools, carbon storage potential and mineralization at different soil depths in these natural and altered ecosystems. Three experiments were envisaged to achieve the above objectives of the research programen_US
