Seeds of four varieties of bhindi vis. local white pusa red pusa sowani and kilichundan obtained from the agricultural college farm were used and sown in the botanic garden of the college on 13.10.1964. A large number of flowers in each variety were selfed to have the parental seeds for the next season.
